A fingerprint technician in Connecticut takes fingerprints; assists in classification of fingerprint impressions utilizing Henry System with extensions and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) fingerprint coding methods, assists in filing of fingerprint records, searches fingerprint files by hand, searches, compares and verifies incoming fingerprint cards with master fingerprint cards, transcribes fingerprint formulas on processed fingerprint cards, updates master fingerprint records and files fingerprints according to classification, may fingerprint deceased of questionable or unknown identity, and performs clerical work related to identification process.


Basic Requirements for Fingerprint Technician in Connecticut


  • Knowledge of methods and procedures used in fingerprint classification
  • Ability to accurately compare fingerprint data
  • Ability to maintain criminal and non-criminal fingerprint filing systems
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • One (1) year of experience in the processing or classification of fingerprints is required. Completion of a course in fingerprint classification from a school recognized by the International Association for Identification may be substituted for the General Experience.

Applicants may be required to take a physical examination for appointment to this class. Applicants must have and retain sufficient visual acuity to perform the duties of the class.
